0 Tour ’12 Wrap Up
I want to let everyone know how much the band(s) and I appreciated the audiences we were lucky enough to get on our recent tours in Europe, Asia and the States.
Some may know I was concerned about people coming out for this one. It had been quite a while since we’d tried it and I know many of us don’t have much expendable income these days.
Not only were the turnouts better than I anticipated but the vibe, soulfulness and energy of those who were able to be there were nothing less than inspiring and encouraging.
Sincere appreciation to all who were able to take part in this wild thing!
Gig reflections, for any interested:
IT ALL STARTED WITH LEFEBVRE AND WOOD IN -
London @ Ronnie’s: couple of great nights. It couldn’t have gone much better. Blazing beginning for a new band.
Paris @ Sunside: inappropriate venue, lousy hotel. A struggle. Audience totally cool.
Malguenac (festival): Wild. Sheep. Dry ice and tie dye. Fun.
Monte Carlo @ Note Bleue: outdoor performance was warming up until the typhoon hit. Beautiful audience despite the torrents.
THEN WITH CARLOCK AND WOOD, IN -
Boston @ Johnny D’s: perfect beginning to phase 2. Perfect crowd, vibe. Band threw down!
New York @ Highline Ballroom: slightly light attendance and technical problems threw me for a while, but we got it going.
Tokyo @ Billboard Live: a blast. 4 sets in 2 Days, each better than the last. Beautiful audience. Received lecture from Keith about showbiz, took it to heart.
Seoul @ Mapo Arts Center: a great concert. House a bit light but fantastic. Likewise the workshops we did there – audience totally down for it all.
Nashville @ 3rd and Lindsley: light attendance surprised and threw me a bit, but the crowd was so soulful and cool I got over it. Also played a drum fest which had us in a cavernous building made of aluminum. Imagine what that sounded like. But the band killed it, slaughtered it. A blast.
Seattle @ Jazz Alley: was worried enough about attendance to call everyone I knew and didn’t know to get out the vote. But people showed anyway and we had 2 really good nights. Thanks, Seattle (and Cuong Vu)!
Santa Cruz @ Kuumbwa: sure, there could have been more people, but we had a great show. Strong and right.
San Francisco @ Yoshi’s: disappointingly, the hardest gig of the tour. Severe technical difficulties and venue issues. Despite that: a truly fantastic audience. Special thanks to you, people! We did the absolute best we could do under the circumstances. Next time, hopefully!
Los Angeles @ Catalina: always nervous playing in LA, but crowds were super cool. Inappropriate venue, maybe; lousy hotel, certainly – but none of it stopped us.
Chicago @ Martyrs: hard to imagine a better end to the proceedings. Stellar vibe, rockin’ room, band killing, magic late-night hang. A blast!
WE THANK YOU FOR EXCHANGING ENERGY WITH US
